Don benutzte teures, hochqualitatives Papier, um dessen Qualität über viele Jahre (wie er sagt: "für immer") zu behalten.
Er nutzte "Strathmore Bristol-Blöcke mit einem Plate-Finish". Strathmore schrieb mir auf eine Anfrage hin, es handele sich vermutlich um das Strathmore 500 Series 3-ply Bristol Plate. Allerdings weisen seine Zeichenblätter eine Größe von ca. 13.25"x9.75" auf und das Strathmore-Papier ist nur wesentlich größer erhältlich. Naja, laut Jano Rohleder schneidet Don auch seine Blätter zum Zeichnen für Signaturstunden selbst, daher habe ich nach etwas Herumprobieren verstanden, wie Don vorging:
Es ist davon auszugehen, dass Don sich die 30"x40"-Variante bestellt hat und sie wie links zu sehen einfach in Neuntel geschnitten hat. Das ergibt eine Halbseiten*-Größe von exakt 13.33"x10", was mit den von mir genommenen Maßen ja ziemlich exakt übereinstimmt.
(*Don hat jede Seite seiner Comics auf zwei große Halbseiten gezeichnet, um Egmonts Anforderungen im Punkt Zeichnungsgröße zu erfüllen)
